IBIA Launches Integrity Monitoring in Alberta, Canada

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) is set to provide its integrity monitoring services in Alberta as the province gears up for regulated sports betting. Starting July 13, IBIA's advanced monitoring platform will assist licensed sportsbooks in ensuring fair play and compliance. This move follows their previous approval in Ontario, further solidifying IBIA's role in the Canadian market.

IBIA's Entry into Alberta

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has received approval to extend its services to Alberta, Canada, a significant development as the province prepares for the launch of regulated sports betting on July 13. This new initiative will allow IBIA to offer its integrity monitoring services to licensed sportsbook operators in the region.

Utilizing its Global Monitoring & Alert Platform (MAP), IBIA will effectively map operator and account information. This sophisticated system is designed to assess, detect, and report any suspicious betting activities, ensuring a secure betting environment.

Integrity Monitoring in Alberta

IBIA's CEO, Khalid Ali, expressed enthusiasm about this expansion on LinkedIn, noting that the approval in Alberta follows their existing success in Ontario. This reinforces IBIA's commitment to embedding integrity monitoring within regulated markets right from the start.

Ali emphasized the collaborative effort between IBIA and the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission. The partnership aims to identify and assess any suspicious betting activities through comprehensive operator intelligence and account-level data, which are vital for maintaining a trustworthy betting landscape.

He also encouraged operators preparing for the new market to reach out to IBIA to explore how the organization can assist in achieving their integrity and compliance goals.

Q1 Report Highlights

In its recent Q1 report, the IBIA highlighted its role in monitoring the global betting landscape, reporting a total of 70 suspicious betting alerts. Of these, 20 alerts originated from Europe, while North America accounted for 14.

The report also shed light on the integrity of esports betting, noting that 15 alerts were flagged globally in this rapidly expanding sector. This underscores the growing importance of integrity monitoring across various betting markets as they evolve.
