Polymarket Partners with LaLiga to Enhance Fan Engagement

Polymarket has announced a partnership with LaLiga to enhance fan engagement in North America. This collaboration introduces unique digital experiences, meet-and-greets with former players, and exclusive content ahead of the World Cup. The deal marks LaLiga as the first major European football league to partner with a prediction market, aiming to offer fans a dynamic way to engage with the sport.

Polymarket has struck a collaboration with Spain’s top football league for fans in North America.

The recent agreement positions Polymarket as a partner of LaLiga in the United States and Canada, aiming to create a variety of digital and social programming. This includes unique fan experiences and opportunities to meet former players from the league, enhancing the overall connection between fans and their favorite teams.

With this partnership, LaLiga becomes the first major European football league to collaborate with a prediction market in this innovative manner. The timing is particularly strategic, coinciding with the upcoming World Cup, which will take place in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

'Dynamic' engagement opportunity

Shayne Coplan, founder and CEO of Polymarket, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our goal is to give fans a more expressive way to follow the game, where opinions on players, matches, and season outcomes can be reflected in real time.”

This partnership aims to introduce a new level of interaction for one of the most dedicated global fanbases, providing North American audiences a dynamic method to engage with LaLiga and its events.

Additionally, Polymarket will gain exclusive rights to utilize LaLiga’s and individual clubs’ intellectual property in relation to LaLiga matches, further enriching the content available to fans.

Polymarket beefs up partnership portfolio

This latest agreement is part of Polymarket's broader strategy to expand its partnership portfolio, which already includes collaborations with Major League Soccer and the National Hockey League in the United States. The NHL partnership was established in October of the previous year, followed by the MLS collaboration in January.

Polymarket plans to develop immersive fan experiences across MLS digital platforms, focusing on enhancing the live match experience and encouraging second-screen engagement for fans.

During the announcement of the NHL deal, Tarek Mansour, CEO of Kalshi, declared, “It should be clear now - prediction markets are here to stay.”

At the same time, the American Gaming Association and the Indian Gaming Association have responded to the evolving landscape of prediction markets, welcoming a bipartisan bill that could potentially restrict such markets on sports events if it passes.
